Local woman Lisa Nichols will, on June 8th, be embarking on an epic fundraising challenge.

She is going to Spain to complete a horse riding challenge and riding for six hours a day for five days to raise money for sufferers of cerebral palsy.

"I will be doing this on behalf of SCOPE. I have decided to participate in this experience as I have a love of horse riding and I wanted to give something back to our community as well as working in a paid social care job" she said.

The money raised from this event will allow SCOPE to continue running their vital services which are designed to support disabled people in every aspect of their lives from birth through to adulthood. SCOPE's aim is that disabled children and adults achieve equality in everyday life.

"I have pledged to raise at least £2,000 for SCOPE. All the equipment I need for this event will be self funded, everything I raise will go directly to SCOPE" said Lisa.

Lisa lives in Monmouth but was born in Usk and raised in Pontypool. She currently works for the Regard Partnership Ltd as a Regional Director supporting children and adults with learning disabilities.

"I was educated in Pontypool and moved to Monmouth about five years ago looking for a quiet area to settle as I love the countryside and everything Monmouth has to offer" she said.

"I settled here quickly and love the area, I only recently took up horse riding again and I'm currently having weekly lessons and getting as much exercise as possible to get fit for the fundraising challenge I have set myself".

Lis is 39 and commented "I guess I have decided to challenge myself and get right out into the outdoors and enjoy the wonderful countryside and activities Wales has to offer. Just this week I walked 10 miles in the Brecon Beacons and this has motivated me even more. She has one daughter, Kimberly and a granddaughter, Kiera.
