CANCER Research UK will benefit by £3,438 following the efforts of Sarah Burris and her friends. Sarah, an employee of Waitrose Limited, decided to arrange a walk around Monmouth in memory of her dear grandmother Mims who died in September 2005 following a struggle against breast cancer. Finally 27 walkers many of whom had been touched by cancer in different ways decided to join Sarah. The walk took place on 30th September 2006. Sarah says "By helping raise money for Cancer Research UK I am doing my part in helping to find a solution and ease the suffering of others. "I have so enjoyed supporting this charity I am now hooked on helping more and more. "I'm arranging a "Lantern Walk" on Sunday 22nd April and another walk in memory of Mims on Sunday 9th September. "Anyone wishing to take part or help in supporting these events can contact me via Cancer Research UK on 08701 60 20 40." Linda Strange who accepted the cheque on behalf of Cancer Research UK, says "Cancer Research UK is reliant on the generosity of the public to beat cancer. "At Cancer Research UK we are grateful to people like Sarah who realise the importance of research in the battle against cancer and are prepared to help in this way."
