Catherine Fookes supported the motion to decriminalise abortion right up to the point of birth.
At 20 weeks a child feels pain and sucks its thumb. She says in her 3rd of July 2025 'Views from Westminster’ that she took this decision with utmost care, read the legislation and listened to both sides. Keeping the voices of Monmouthshire residents at the core of every choice she makes.
The 1967 Abortion Act already allows legalised termination up to 24 weeks that is 5.5 months What happened to the rights of the child? So the child now has no legal protection.. She does not represent my views and I am sure if others truly understood the facts they would say the say the same. What was she thinking? are we are turning into barbarians? This could pave the way for dangerous/sex selective abortions...women will no longer be prosecuted for terminating a pregnancy up until the point of birth for any reason. 242 MPs voted for this..The Offences Against the Person Act 1861 - which outlaws abortion - is to be amended so that it will no longer apply to women ending their own pregnancies. Our already liberal abortion laws allows an estimated 300,000 babies to be killed. Now, even the very limited protection afforded by the law is being stripped away. We must plead with her to rethink her position. It nows goes to the House of Lords and when it comes back to the house of commons I hope she will vote to end this appalling amendment. to our already liberal abortion legislation.
