The largest crowd at Blestium Street for a number of years created an air of excitement and the confidence was palpable in the pre-game warm up as Caldicot Town came to town for a first-ever first team game in Monmouth and for the second leg of the Monmouthshire derby.
That they arrived as overwhelming underdogs says more about the table-topping Kingfishers' progress than the temporary problems facing the men from Jubilee Way, and so it proved within four minutes as Bowen's attempt was saved and MacDonald snaffled his eighth of the season.
Pass, returning in goal, made a smart save to his right to deny the only attack from Caldicot in a one-sided first half.
