Every year members of Rotary Monmouth take pupils from the Overmonnow Special Needs Unit out on a trip as part of the National Rotary ‘Kids Out’ Project.

And this year it was to see an animated Disney film show especially arranged by Chris Ryde at The Savoy, complete with free popcorn and drinks.

On this occasion, because Rotary had learned that many refugees from war-torn Ukraine were housed in a Magor hotel with little variety in their day, they invited them to the same film show which they enjoyed despite the language difficulties.

Monmouthshire County Council arranged the transport and their morning was made complete with ice creams kindly donated by Rotary’s newest member, Jenny Howells, and a trip to the town’s new play area on Chippenham.

Having seen so many smiles on faces, Rotary members are considering what else they may be able to arrange for them.
