SIR,

A huge 'thank you' to everyone who organised and participated in Trellech's successful Jubilee weekend.

Thank you also to the The New Grove Trust, who helped with the marketing.

Events included a children's party, a pensioner's tea party, a hog roast and disco, a guided historic walk around the village, bands at The Lion Inn, a display of historic photographs at the Methodist Church and a civic service and bell ringing in St Nicholas's Church.

It was intended to bring everyone together and provide something for everyone, and I think we achieved this.

So successful was it that we've decided to do it again next year.

The Trellech Village Festival will be the last weekend of June and we'll be holding a public meeting on 13th September to ask everyone in the village what they'd like to see as part of that event.

The Jubilee Festival was a significant event in its own right, but the real and long lasting benefit is the 'birth' of a new community-led event that will hopefully benefit everyone in our village and surrounding area for years to come.

Sarah Whiddett

(Trellech Village Festival Co-Ordinator)
