The next Mayor of Ross is to be Councillor John Davies, he was unanimously voted in as Mayor elect at Monday's meeting of the Ross Town Council after being nominated by the incumbent Mayor, Councillor Derek Bedford. Councillor Davies, who currently serves as the Deputy Mayor, thanked his fellow councillors for putting their confidence in him. The Mayor-making takes place on May 12th. This will be the second tenure as Mayor for Councillor Davies. He held the office of Mayor in 2003 and 2004. His mayoral project was raising cash for the League of Friends at the Ross Community Hospital. Councillor Davies campaigned for road safety improvements on the Walford Road and he has worked for the Council to bring musical entertainment to the Lions' Bandstand near the riverside. He was the first Mayor of Ross to get married while in office and he and his wife Hannah now have a young son.
