Monmouthshire County Council has discounted rumours that Jenny Lewis, Area Manager for Monmouth and district, is about to leave her post.
The authority's Chief Executive, Colin Berg, said on Monday "We are aware of the rumours in the town that there may be changes afoot to the role of the County Council's area general manager, Jenny Lewis, presently based at the One Stop Shop in Monmouth.
"We realise that any changes to this high profile and successful role may cause concern to Beacon readers. However, we are pleased to report that Jenny is still part of the area working team based in Monmouth.
"It is true that we have been undertaking a management review of how successful or otherwise, area working has been, and if it needs to change to cope with some of the challenges ahead.
"That review is now almost complete, and now Councillors are looking at what the review has discovered. The review shows that the one stop shops are a very successful point of access for all council services and also provide a base for other public services in the towns.
"Likewise, the area working teams have also been doing a really grand job, building local relationships and successful local projects. The Cabinet are discussing the review in May, and one of the things that they will be looking at is how to extend the good practice that Jenny and her colleagues have been building.
"This may mean some changes, it may not, but what we are sure of, is that MCC is committed to all of its officers working with local people at a local level to make local communities stronger."
