The end of term saw Cross Ash Primary School bid a fond and emotional farewell to their retiring Head Teacher, Mrs Isobel Busby.
Since her appointment in 1991, she has worked tirelessly to create a vibrant and thriving school from a raw building site bringing together children and staff from much smaller schools.
Mrs. Busby had taught at Overmonnow School and then became Deputy Head at Trellech Primary School. She was appointed Head Teacher of the new Cross Ash Primary School in 1991 when six local village schools were closed as part of the LEA Strategic Review to create a new community school.
Celebrations included a social evening attended by colleagues past and present, governors and friends. The children said goodbye in a special farewell assembly in which they sang songs, recited poems and presented her with many pictures, cards and creative albums. Pupils presented their head teacher with a bouquet containing a rose for each of the 18 years she has been head teacher. A set of garden furniture was also presented to her with a magnificent magnolia tree and parents signed a special album.
