“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

MADAM,

Monmouthshire County Council have decided to dispense with unpaid volunteers for the delivery of meals on wheels.

As a member of the Women's Royal Voluntary Service I am one of about 60 "locals" replenished from time to time by members of their families or by friends who have been happy to do this job, using their own cars, for the past 30 years or so and have done it well.

To quote our American cousins: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" But alas the present regime does not seem able to leave well alone or to save money.
