PERMISSION has been granted for a new house on the High Trees estate.
Monmouthshire County Council's (MCC) planning committee discussed the application yesterday (3rd February).
The build was firmly recommended for refusal by Chepstow Town Council.
The town's planning team voted against the application at the site on Steep Street in a meeting at the end of November.
The new house will be built in the grounds of the Grade II listed former registry office.
The application also includes a double garage as well as a gravel driveway to the property.
