Royal British Legion member Philip Bell has been awarded life membership of the Legion, in recognition of his work and loyalty for over 30 years.
Since 1967, his posts have included Monmouth Branch Secretary, County Delegate, and Secretary of Hammett Court Homes when it was in Legion hands.
He was trained and employed as a welfare caseworker, and played an active part in the very important Poppy Appeal – often in very inclement weather.
Philip was presented with the award at Cardiff by the National Trustee for Wales on Saturday 20th February.
Much unseen work is carried out by the Royal British Legion in support of ex-servicemen and women in need, with support and help from the Poppy Appeal. Philip is typical of many people who do such work, with no thought of personal recognition.
