FOUR Sixth Form students from Monmouth Comprehensive School were chosen to guide the delegates at the Secondary Heads' Association Conference at the Celtic Manor in Newport at the weekend.

The conference was addressed by a number of well-known speakers, including David Blunkett, Secretary of State for Education, Charles Kennedy, leader of the Liberal Democrats, and William Hague, leader of the Opposition.

Many favourable comments were made about the students by the headteachers who were mainly from the United Kingdom but included visitors from Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Namibia.

Mrs Pauline Thomas, Deputy Head at the School and a member of SHA Cymru Executive, said: "Many of the headteachers told me how impressed they were by the courteous and helpful way in which our students undertook their duties."

The students involved were Alex Pearce of Mitchel Troy, Beth Ward of Coleford, Emma Lewis of Whitebrook and Charlene Burridge of Wyesham.
