A SEVERELY disabled Cross Ash woman who contacted The Monmouthshire Beacon to complain about the poor service she was getting from Monmouthshire Social Services has now been provided with private home care.
Mrs Lesley Woodward, who has been assessed as needing care seven days a week, telephoned The Beacon in desperation after receiving no help four days in succession. When she complained to Social Services, she was told they had no one to send.
Anne Shoring, Strategic Development Manager Social and Housing Services, Monmouthshire County Council, said that since last Tuesday private home care had been arranged for Mrs Woodward by the department.
"I am aware that Mrs Woodward has had some problems and we are dealing separately with her complaint. I'm sorry that she is upset but we're not ignoring her or forgetting about her. We had actually put in several different providers over the past year and we are hoping that the current person is going to be satisfactory.
"We'll be investigating any complaints Mrs Woodward has made because we do pride ourselves on providing a good domiciliary service and wouldn't like to think that any of our service users are not getting the service we agreed to provide."
