SIR,

For those who have wondered about the early disappearance of the Christmas tree in Monnow Street, sadly it was brought down by the high winds on 27th December.

Many thanks to volunteers who helped clear and remove it, especially Rudolph Griffiths, John Blake and Rob.

Decorations which could be saved have been left at Paws Pet Supplies.

The weather conditions, along with recurring power supply issues have again meant some difficulties with the Christmas lights this year, but I hope you will agree the overall effect has been very festive. Many thanks, especially to Chris Munslow for his endless assistance.

Cllr Anthony Owen

(Chair, Environmental Affairs

Committee, Monmouth Town Council)
