FINAL planning permission for a new house on the High Trees estate will be decided upon next Tuesday (3rd February).

Monmouthshire County Council's (MCC) planning committee will discuss the application, which has been recommended for refusal by Chepstow Town Council.

The town's planning team voted against the application at the site on Steep Street at a meeting at the end of November.

If approved by MCC, the former registry office will see a new detached house built in the grounds of the Grade II listed building.

The application also proposes to build a double garage as well as a gravel driveway to the property.

It would mean the removal of some existing trees.
