THE A466 in Tintern could be closed this weekend due to forecasted high tides.

High tides on the Ricer Wye are due again this weekend. Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) say they will be monitoring the situation and if necessary, will arrange for the A466 through Tintern to be closed for short periods tonight (Friday 19th August) from 9.30pm to 10pm approximately and tomorrow Saturday 20th August from 9.45am to 10.15am and from 10.15pm to 10.45pm approximately.

The closure points will be the Trellech Road junction and the Royal George junction.

Any road closures will only be temporary and only when tidal water actually overflows onto the highway. The road will reopen as soon as the water has receded from the highway.
