A MONMOUTH Town Councillor awoke last week to find an unusual gathering in his front garden.

It’s not every day you wake up to find your garden lawn being used as a restaurant for your neighbours, however Ken Breeze, councillor for Wyesham ward, awoke Friday morning to find his garden occupied by a small flock of sheep who had made their way in from a nearby field.

While at first it may have appeared to have been a successful break-out attempted from some of the more ambitious sheep, an impromptu protest of Town Council policies, or the desire for a fresh menu, the incident was actually the result of a nearby stile being vandalised overnight allowing the flock to make their way out of their field and on to Cllr Breeze’s property.

Ken said: "For some reason the sheep liked our front garden."

The sheep were rounded up shortly after and are now back in the comfort of their own field. Fortunately for the Wyesham councillor, the sheep didn’t cause any serious damage.

Ken added: "They were very well behaved, just left lots of poo!"

Gwent Police told the Beacon that no reports of vandalism in regards to the stile have been called in and the neighbourhood sergeant had not been made aware of the incident.

The grass may be greener on the other side, but as the flock found out, that grass is not always yours to take.
