From losing her own weight to helping others change their lives, Sue Rigsby is proving that a supportive community can make a world of difference.

138 stone is the incredible amount of weight members of Sue Rigsby’s Slimming World group lost collectively last year.

So far this year Sue’s members have lost an incredible 1,150 lbs — the equivalent of 82 stone.

But for Sue, it’s not really about the numbers. Behind every pound lost is a person, a story and a reason to celebrate.

She recently celebrated another year as a Diamond Member of Slimming World, having maintained her target weight for two years. Having experienced the highs and challenges of her own weight-loss journey, she understands first-hand just how important encouragement, friendship and support can be.

That’s exactly what she now strives to provide for the members of her local group at Dingestow Village Hall every Wednesday at 7pm.

For the past 21 months, Sue has been a Slimming World Consultant, helping members work towards their own goals while celebrating not just weight losses, but the achievements that can’t always be measured on the scales.

And Sue believes that support is just as important when someone is maintaining their weight-loss success as it is when they are losing weight.

With more people now using GLP-1 medications as part of their weight-management journey, Sue’s group is also there to support members who want to build healthy, sustainable habits and maintain their progress for life. For those taking GLP-1s, group can provide a welcoming place to focus on food choices, healthy habits, activity, mindset and the practical challenges of maintaining their success — alongside any medical support they receive from their healthcare professional.

Sue’s group took part in Race for Life, helping Slimming World raise a phenomenal £723,926 for Cancer Research UK.

They also joined Slimming World’s Great Clothes Throw, donating clothes they had ‘slimmed out of’ to raise funds for Cancer Research UK — part of a nationwide campaign which raised an incredible £2,718,917.

Sue’s passion for group support has even taken her into the spotlight, with her being interviewed by ITV News about the importance of having that support network around you when trying to lose weight.

And while she is busy encouraging her own members, Sue has also been recognised for her work. In 2026, she became a semi-finalist in Slimming World’s Top Target Consultant competition.

For Sue, though, the greatest reward is seeing her members achieve things they once thought they couldn’t.

Last year’s group total of 1,933.5 lbs lost is already an extraordinary achievement. With 82 stone lost so far this year, Sue is hoping her members can go even further.

Sue’s group meets every Wednesday at 7pm at Dingestow Village Hall. Sue welcomes anyone who would like to find out more and is happy to chat about the group, how it works and any current joining offers and you can contact her on 07940 840444.
