SIR,
Hope you are well and can take a moment to read the detail below. It's a little story and a heartfelt plea.
It really doesn't seem like three years since Andy and I cracked a beer and decided to try and complete the world's top ten marathons by Dec 2009, when I would be 50 and Andy a tad older.
It kicked off with trips to Paris, Berlin and then Chicago for Andy's 50th birthday.
We agreed that if either of us was made redundant that the trips would go ahead and indeed Andy went from SF before Chicago but we stuck with the programme. We followed up with Rotterdam, a statutory London and Amsterdam in 2007 with Boston, Stockholm and Washington last year. This just leaves us New York and Honolulu. (Yes, that is eleven but there are two lists, Washington on one and Paris on the other!)
Since 2,000 our running efforts have amassed around £950k for charity and we thought it would be neat if we could round that up to £1million.
We're on our way and with eight weeks to go now have to accelerate the process.
All funds raised in our final efforts are going to Macmillan Cancer Support. Another BBQ at my TKDo club and a fun run are bringing in around another £1.2k so we keep plugging away.
All our efforts have been self-funded so every penny raised has gone straight to charity.
If you can possibly help, or know anyone who can, please donate on-line through our page at: http://www.justgiving.co.uk/macitamillion">www.justgiving.co.uk/macitamillion
Many thanks for making it this far, best wishes and kind regards
Mark Williamson
