Monmouth Community Fridge is looking for people who can help collect surplus food from supermarkets.

The Fridge is a Transition Monmouth Food Sense project run by volunteers and redistributes nutritious surplus food, free, to the whole community, thus preventing good food from going to landfill. It is located in one of the old stables behind Bridges Centre. The Fridge is open to customers every day and food is collected from three Monmouth supermarkets every evening.

The Fridge is now looking to take on some enthusiastic Volunteer Collectors to collect food from M&S in Monmouth on Thursday evenings. Collections from M&S are at 8.15 pm.

All volunteers undertake both induction and on-the-job training. This way we can ensure that everyone is up to speed with food hygiene regulations and is also comfortable with what the volunteering role involves before they begin. Volunteers can undertake a free, on-line Food Hygiene (Level 2) course which Monmouthshire County Council offer from time to time. If you have time to help email [email protected] giving details about yourself and why you might be interested in joining the team.
