Headteacher Carole Herman, credited with transforming the fortunes of Monmouth Comprehensive School, will leave at the start of the next school year.

Ms Herman has spent 10 years at the school but will take up a new headship in her native Essex on 1st September.

The appointment was made last Friday (28th January) and was officially announced to pupils, parents and staff this week.

"I'm proud of what this school has achieved," said Ms Herman, who is going back to Essex partly because she still has family in the area.

"I am also taking up a new challenge professionally," she said.
