HOME-START Monmouthshire has received a boost from the Monmouth Tri Club after it donated money raised from its annual aquathon.

Monmouth Tri Club donated £250 to the charity which helps families with young children.

The club has been running the event, which involves a swim in the River Wye and a run along its banks, for the past five years.

Although not specifically aimed as a fundraising event, each year the club donates part of its profits to a local charity.

Chairman of the club, Phil Tilley, said the discussion to support Home-Start this year came from the members.

He said: “Because we are a local group and it was a local fundraiser we wanted to choose a local charity to sponsor. Some of our members suggested we go with Home-Start.”

Home-Start Monmouthshire manager Pam Lloyd thanked the Tri Club for their donation and said each donation meant Home-Start could spend a little more time focusing on providing their support and little less time on trying to fundraise.
