A NEW scheme run by a Monmouthshire group hopes to be the first to provide parent focused support, working on the premise “happy parents make happy children”.

Home-Start Monmouthshire is holding five week support groups for parents in Monmouth and Abergavenny.

Through lottery funding, Home-Start is able to offer a free creche with these groups meaning they will be open to all parents regardless of their personal circumstances.

This will allow the parent/s head space and time to re-evaluate their own lives, goals, ambitions and aspirations in a facilitated, semi-structured, safe environment.

Carmen Jackson from Home-Start said: “The first group held at Ty Price has been a success with both parents and their children who attended the creche.

“The parents reported that they feel they have really benefitted from having a structured and protected time and space in which to look after themselves often for the first time in years, before returning to being parents re-charged and re-inspired.

This group is free and will run for five weeks in term time. The next group starts on Tuesday, 7th November at the newly refurbished Ty Price community halls and will run from 10.30am to 12pm. For more, email [email protected] or ring 01600715608 or 07745 238299.

The Abergavenny group will start on 10th November at the community centre on Park Street.
