A CHEPSTOW girl has become a well known face across the country in the past few weeks, after appearing on the popular BBC show, The Voice.
Hannah Berney, from Pwllmeyric in Chepstow, has beaten thousands by making it through to the final 20 in the competition. Hannah will perform on the first of the live shows at 7pm next Saturday (28th April) on BBC One.
Audiences watched the 21-year-old sing her way through the initial blind auditions, in which she impressed Tom Jones and her chosen mentor, Danny O'Donoghue.
"I asked a lot of questions that they didn't show on TV, Danny seemed most in line with where I want to be," said Hannah.
"I was very very nervous, you saw on the show that I forgot my mum's name, it was all a bit embarrassing."
Hannah went to Wyedean School and is currently in her second year of studying history and French at Exeter University. Whilest gigging around Exeter Hannah was put in touch with the producers of the show, who were touring the country searching for talent to audition.
Hannah is now living in London for the duration of the show, being coached by the Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue.
"He is really lovely and so easy to talk to. You get a real sense that you are valued as a team member," she said.
"It has been lovely to have support from local papers, and I have had an amazing response from my old school. It is an overwhelming feeling and I am so happy," she added.
Hannah was chosen by Danny over 47-year-old Murray Hockridge on Sunday night (22nd April) during the final episode of battles.
Hannah reveals how she felt after getting through to the live shows on her facebook page.
"Ah! I'm in the LIVE SHOWS! Well done Murray, it was a tough battle and I am lucky to have sung with you! So much love to all my supporters :)" she posted.
