A HAIR and make over day at a Monmouth salon has raised £565 for St David’s Hospice Care.
Hairbyjones manager Denise Jones, staged the event with her team as a thank you to St David’s Hospice Care after they cared for her mother Frances Gleed.
The all day event at the hair salon saw ladies gathering to take advantage of free hair consultations, blow dries and up-dos. The salon also offered makeovers and tutorials from the Bareminerals regional specialist. The event stretched on until 8pm allowing businesswomen to come along after work.
The salon, in Monnow Street, offered a choice of treatments in what was the fourth staging of the annual event with 100 people attending during the day. The event has raised almost £4,000 for St David’s Hospice Care over the past four years.
Denise said: “St David’s Hospice Care is a charity I really believe in, and as a local business it’s wonderful to give something back to the community we live and work in.
“It is a charity that is close to my heart because of the wonderful care they gave my mother, Frances, when she had cancer.
“The nurses from St David’s were extremely helpful throughout her care.”
Tania Ansell, community fundraiser for St David’s Hospice Care, said: “It really was a great success and it was so nice to see so many ladies taking the time out not only for themselves but also to support our local hospice care service.
“Thank you so much to Denise and the team, for working so hard to put on this event once again this year. We really do appreciate it.”
A raffle was held of items donated by local businesses and suppliers to the salon.
