The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded £22,800 for an exciting new heritage project which will bring the past alive in a Monmouthshire village.
The award will help to conserve an important memorial stone to Charles William and his wife Joan Baker in St. Nicholas Church, Grosmont.
Charles William, who died in 1636, was Mayor of Grosmont and deputy steward to the Duchy of Lancaster.
The memorial stone, which is a rare survivor of several restorations to St Nicholas church, is now very fragile due to water penetration over the years.
