A sell-out talk by a Monmouth GP about her trip to Nepal has raised hundreds of pounds for mountain rescuers.
Dr Anne Griffiths raised almost £700 for Longtown Mountain Rescue Team from the event at Shire Hall last Thursday (6th February).
Now the GP, who practices at the Chippenham Surgery, in Monnow Street, is to stage another talk as more than 50 people had to be turned away at the door.
Dr Griffiths said afterwards: "It was great to have so many supporters and people genuinely interested in my trek.
"I decided to do this for Longtown MRT because they look after us so brilliantly on the hills and they're not a bad looking bunch."
More than 100 people attended the sell-out talk and because so many people had to be turned away at the door, Dr Griffiths is organising another talk about the weeks she spent in Nepal.
Dr Griffiths visited remote communities and then climbed from Kathmandu to the Annapurna Base Camp at more than 4,000 metres.
Longtown MRT's deputy team leader, Luke Lewis, said: "We are very grateful to Dr Griffiths and all those who raise funds to ensure we are able to provide an essential service, not only to hill walkers and climbers but also to the local community.
"The talk was educational but also inspirational and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended."
Abergavenny-based Longtown Mountain Rescue Team is almost entirely reliant on donations.
The team answers calls to help missing or injured people in rural and remote areas across Monmouthshire, Herefordshire, Powys, Gwent and Gloucestershire.
