Last Friday, Usk Church in Wales Primary School said goodbye to Tom Hathaway, their Crossing Patrol and Caretaker. Tom has worked in the school for more than 16 years and is now retiring. Headteacher Claire Gething said, "Tom has been at the heart of the School community for so long that it is difficult to imagine the place without him. He will be greatly missed by the children, staff and parents." In a special Assembly the School sang a song specially composed for Tom and he was presented with a number of gifts from the School, the PTFA and the School Council including some tools to use on his garden and some vouchers to buy a hammock or something to help him relax.
