On Saturday Usk entertained Llahilleth in a rearranged league fixture.
The visitors started the better and scored an early converted try. Usk started to get back in the game through Andy Peginton.
The same player made a decisive break before feeding Emlyn Jones for the first home try. Usk continued in the ascendancy when Gez Harris, with a clear run to the line, inexplicably fell over.
However, Papp was on hand to go on to score the try. After another Peginton break Dan Forrester went on to score the try, which he duly converted, to give Usk a 20-7 half time lead.
The Usk first half performance suffered from the frequent stoppages for Llanhilleth injuries and they were unable to get any continuity in their play.
The second half started in the same way, with more Llanhilleth injuries but Usk scored a further try from Dan Forrester to a converted try from the visitors. That gave Usk a 25 - 14 victory.
This week the Usk pack performed well against a heavier Llanhilleth team and they tackled and carried the ball well, with Man of the Match Ian Walters covering acres of the pitch.
Next week Usk visit Oakdale in a crucial top of the table clash which could decide the eventual league winner.
