Four golfers are taking part in the MacMillan Longest day Challenge to raise funds for people living with cancer.

Rob Pilot, Dave Wilding, Chris Chalk, Russell Giblin will be attempting to play 72 holes of golf in one day.

Three of them are playing in memory of Dave Uttley who recently lost his fight with cancer

They are already on their way to the £2,000 target and will be taking on the challenge at Monmouth Golf Course on Monday June 20.

With just £350 donated, Macmillan Cancer can provide a one-off payment of £350 to help with the extra costs that living with cancer can bring. It can be used to buy specialist equipment or to meet other unmet needs, including paying for hospital travel, extra clothing or to help cover the cost of a much-needed break.

Rob told the Beacon that Dave Uttley was a much-loved sporting friend and was heavily involved in the Monmouth Sports Association.

“He was our vice captain at the golf club, so we wanted to do something golf-related in his memory, especially as he loved the game so much,” he added.
