MONMOUTH'S veteran rowers headed to the sport's spiritual home for the Henley Masters Regatta and found themselves facing a former Olympic champion twice in 90 minutes.
But the Monmouthshire Building Society-sponsored men were too good for Steve Redgrave's 1984 gold medal crewmate Richard Budgett on their way to two finals.
And despite a narrow defeat in the final of the over 42 coxless fours, they then landed the coxed four title from a powerful Canadian crew to round off another great championship season.
After Monmouth RC's five gold and two silver successes at the British Masters, Mark Stewart-Woods, Nick Hartland, Eric Froggatt, and James Allison travelled to the Thames in search of more glory.
