Gnasher, alias Tangi who brought such morale to the troops whilst serving in Afghanistan, was so pleased to meet his new found fans at the Nowzad Coffee morning at The Priory in June, that he has decided to come along again this Saturday 28th October.

Tangi, as he was known, was a small pup found on the streets of Afghanistan. After adopting the British troops he would go out on patrol with them and warn them of IEDs and Taliban. When the soldiers’ tour of duty was over, there was concern for Tangi’s welfare and future. Nowzad was contacted and Tangi was brought over to the UK where he has been renamed Gnasher.

Nowzad, founded by former Royal Marine and best selling author Pen Farthing eleven years ago, has gone from strength to strength.

In addition to repatriating the cats and dogs to their beloved soldiers, they have a clinic in Afghanistan. The standard of living for countless animals has improved beyond measure, lives have been saved and Nowzad’s work in Afghanistan has expanded to benefit more animals than ever before.

2017 saw the opening of the Nowzad Donkey Sanctuary which is the first ever donkey shelter in Afghanistan. Nowzad have physically and figuratively laid the foundations of a kinder and more compassionate future for the working donkeys of Afghanistan.

Winter is just arriving in Kabul and the snow on the mountain tops is building up. Educating the people that adding a bit more straw to a cow or goat’s bed will keep them warmer, healthier and make them live longer, that vaccinating their animals against disease ready for Kabul’s notoriously harsh winter is the way to see into a successful spring.

Every penny raised at the Nowzad Coffee Morning this Saturday 28th October at The Priory Monmouth will go towards Nowzad continuing their much needed work.

Gnasher has not forgotten his terrible start in life and is committed to helping those other animals in Afghan. The coffee morning runs from 10am to 1pm when Gnasher, who is the sweetest kindest dog, will be looking forward to meeting his many admirers.

There will be an array of goodies, beautiful hand-crafted items and Christmas gifts with lots of scrummy cakes to enjoy.
