Last week's Beacon (23rd March) contained an article urging residents to support Earth Hour on 26th March by switching off their lights for an hour to show they care about climate change.

How refreshing to know that Monmouthshire County Council has already stolen a march on this by not switching on the two lights that should illuminate The Barton for at least the last five months.

Well done to them. This will more than offset the carbon emissions that may not be saved if Bridges Community Centre is  not allowed solar panels on their roof.
