Three Monmouth schoolgirls were picked to play netball for South East Wales.
One of the girls has also been selected to train with the Wales Under 19 squad after impressing with the county side.
Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls students Hannah Tilley, Lizzie Penfold and Pippa Williams won places in the highly-talented South East Wales squad half way through what is proving to be a very successful season for senior netballers at the school as they prepare for their tour to South Africa in the Autumn.
Following this, Lizzie was selected to train with the Wales U19 squad, giving up many weekends and working hard on her fitness in the process.
"I spent February half term at the Welsh Institute of Sport with the Welsh squad trialling for the top 12 to go to the European Championships," said Lizzie.
"It was a gruelling week which included boxing, running, drills and many ice baths. I got a lot out of the week as I was being taught by top coaches; it was a lot of hard work but it all paid off when I was selected for the Netball Europe squad.
Speaking last week, Lizzie was looking forward to the Under 19 Netball Europe Championships, which were taking place at the Deeside Leisure Centre and hosted by Welsh Netball last Saturday (12th March).
"I'm very excited to be taking part and I'm sure it will be a great experience to represent my country," she said.
