Gibraltar Nursing Home and St James’ community hall celebrated VE day with entertainment, food and refreshments.

Gibraltar nursing homes’ commemoration was on May 9, beginning with an opening speech from Mayor of Monmouth, councillor David Evans.

There was a reading of Winston Churchill’s most famous words, and shorty after live music commenced.

Jerry Bright, from the Monmouth branch of the Royal British Legion, was asked to attend on behalf of Abergavenny branch to stand by D-Day veteran.

St James’ community hall hosted an event on May 12 with pass the parcel, musical chairs and entertainment. Kymin View Primary school also had an exhibition of painting stones. The Mayor helped with the raffle, the hall raised £200 towards the Royal British Legion.
