SIR,
Have you ever read your national or local paper, watched your national and local television news and thought "I wish I could do something about that?" Well you can do something about it and get your voice and views heard, discussed, and acted upon because Action 50+ in Monmouth are looking for new members.
Action 50+ Monmouth has been in existence since the 1990s and its members have, and still are, actively involved with local organisations and issues that affect you, the residents of Monmouth.
We are a non-political organisation that is prepared to fight for the rights of the individual and the community.
Why not come along to one of our meetings, and even bring a friend. These meetings are generally held in the afternoon on the last Wednesday of each month at Bridges Community Centre.
If the Wednesday afternoon is not convenient then let us know on 01600 714911 and we will attempt to meet your requirements. It could be that there are more people who would prefer an alternative day and time.
Action 50+ Monmouth also organises social outings that can be wide and varied according to the wishes of the members so why not make a note to make contact. Ask some questions by ringing 01600 714911 and I feel certain that there will be enough information to raise your interest.
Also looking for volunteers is Mobility Monmouth which is also based at Bridges Community Centre. Mobility Monmouth is able to hire, at reasonable rates, electric scooters, wheelchairs, rollators, zimmers and walking aids.
Full training is provided to ensure that you are confident in providing the safety technique of using the equipment.
So there are opportunities within both these organisations to provide you with something very satisfying and useful to the community. Give us a call on 01600 714911 or 01600 715766 (for Mobility Monmouth).
Bill Thorne
