SIR,
It is only a little over two weeks until Monmouth Carnival takes place on 31st July, but there is still time to enter into the various events that are being organised for the day.
The closing date for the king and queen competition is 23rd July so, if you are 14 years or under, and fancy being treated like royalty for the day, including taking a ride in a stylish vintage car, get your application in now.
There will also be a home made chariot race on Chippenham, weather permitting, for teams of up to four people.
If you don't want to risk damaging your chariot in the race, you can just enter it in the carnival and win a prize for the most imaginatively decorated vehicle.
As well as the usual floats and walkers, this year's carnival will also include vintage cars and motorcycles and some very energetic dancers.
For more information on how to enter take a look at the new website monmouthcarnival.co.uk where you can also see pictures of previous carnivals, including some of John Bevan's marvellous creations.
Alternatively, phone Anthea Dewhurst on 01600 772209.
