Following the success of Hoggin' the Bridge in October, last Sunday (2nd December) the Hoggin' the Bridge Club held its annual presentation of grant cheques. The event, sponsored and hosted by The George, Moor Street, Chepstow, was an opportunity for organisers to say a big thank you to the sponsors and the volunteer marshals, without whom the event would be unable to go ahead.

The amount raised this year was an impressive £15,000 which was shared out between the following charities: Meningitus UK, the charity that Hoggin' the Bridge was originally established to support; Chepstow Mencap Berkeley Centre, which supports adults with learning disabilities; Chepstow Street Pastors, patrolling Chepstow Town Centre at weekends offering support to revellers; St Johns Ambulance, their team supports Hoggin' the Bridge every year and deals with any incident that occurs.

The money was also given to: Freewheelers EVS Blood bike courier service made up of volunteers; NABD, National Association of Bikers with Disability; Air Ambulance South Wales, helping those in urgent need of medical assistance; Chepstow Marketing, who support and help organise Hoggin' the Bridge every year; Kyoshin Shotokan Karate Club, grant to purchase specialist mats; Pacing Forward, Chronic Pain Support Group in Bristol and Starfish Pool Appeal, towards funding a new hydrotherapy pool which will benefit disabled youngsters and pupils of Claremont School, Bristol.

The Chairman for the Hoggin' the Bridge Club said: "once again we are indebted to all our many helpers and sponsors and also the people of Chepstow who give their time and support to continue to make Hoggin' the Bridge such a huge success".
