The Spirit of Monmouth Running Club has presented a cheque for £1,760 to ABF, The Soldiers Charity after another successful Santa Fun Run last December.
Included in that total is the £750 from the charity fund-matching scheme run by Barclays bank.
The third Santa Fun Run took place on Sunday 5th December on an extremely icy morning.
The cold weather and poor visibility didn't deter the majority of runners from tackling the 1.3 mile course through the town and around Vauxhall Fields.
There were approximately 270 entries, beating last year's total by some margin. All runners were suitably attired in Santa garb of one description or another.
The event saw an increase in the number of entries in the family category, around 35 this year.
A more competitive aspect of the local community showed its face when two 'young bucks' Tom Cooling and Glen Hill took on last year's winner MP David Davis and beat him into third place; in the process Glen Hill (a member of the local TA Regiment) set a course record of eight minutes and 55 seconds.
