More than 3,500 people flocked to Chepstow Racecourse on Monday 31st for the Bank Holiday August Family Fun Race Day.

On the day, Paddington was a special guest and met families for photo opportunities and listened to short stories with children from his marquee. There were also face painters, bouncy castles, a magician, football zones with Bristol City Football Club and rugby zones with Newport Gwent Dragons. An energetic steel-drum band played vibrant Caribbean music throughout the afternoon.

Although the day started off with a few showers - thankfully for those that attended - the rain held off and even cleared up in the afternoon.

Damian Downey, Marketing Manager of Chepstow Racecourse said ‘Family Fun Race Day is always a great occasion here at Chepstow Racecourse, there’s always a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and it’s such a pleasure to see families of all ages enjoying the day.

‘I could see a lot of new faces in the crowd from the parade ring and it was great to hear them cheering on their favourite horses’.

The next family event at Chepstow Racecourse will be the Food & Countryside Day on September 27th with celebrity Chef James Tanner and a variety of stalls and attractions. Please note this is not a race day.

There will be plenty of family entertainment on the second day of the Totepool Jumps Festival on Sunday 11th October including pony racing, a mascot race, bouncy castles, pony rides and face painters.

As before, children under 17 are free. Tickets can be bought online from www.chepstow-racecourse.co.uk, or through the office on 01291 622260.
