A GREAT time was had by all at Trellech Primary School's Summer Fair last Saturday (27th June). The sun shone down on this PTFA organised event as the children panned for gold, battled it out on the slippery pole and took turns in the stocks.

As usual the competition to win the golden wellies was fierce, with the prize categories for welly wanging increasing to six this year.

Olivia McCleary from Year 1 (pictured top right) took first place for the Infant Girls with a distance of 9.1m, Tomos Thorpe, Reception, came top of the Infant Boys with 8.1m. The Junior Girls was won by Annie Porter, Year 5, with a throw of 12.6m and Owen Philips, Year 5, took the top boys prize with 18.8m.

The adults competition was very competitive as usual but the triumphant winners were Miranda Payne with an impressive 22m and John Sault who managed to wang his welly a whopping 29m.

Amongst other games there were lambs and goats to guess the names and weight of, face painting, a nerf gun Star Wars shootout, barbecue sausages, cake, popcorn and ice lollies. The first prize in the raffle was a luxury children's summer hamper which was won by a delighted Colm Minaur, Year 6.

The PTFA would like to thank everyone who helped out, ran a stall, donated a prize or came along and enjoyed the day.

Chair of the PTFA and event organiser Fiona McColgan said: "It's been another fantastic fair and as well as being great day for all the family we also managed to raise an amazing £1,500.

"These funds will go towards a new ball games area next to the junior yard. Thank you to everyone for their continued support, we couldn't do it without your help."
