SIR,
My name is RW Bradley and I, along with several other local people who are Monmothians born and bred, are concerned and very frustrated over the running of our council.
There is a lack of interest and concern over our young people having community meeting places where they can gather and hone their social skills, mix, convene and interact, not "hanging around the streets".
We are also displeased with the giving away of our local buildings to Monmouthshire County Council for its use, places such as Monmouth Hospital, the Shire Hall and Rolls Hall. Our buildings are either passed over or sold on, when they were given to the people of Monmouth for our use.
There is also the threat of our police, ambulance and fire stations being closed down and/or moved. There have been rumours, but nothing from local councillors to either deny or confirm.
We, as a group of local independant candidates, strongly believe that Monmouth residents should run Monmouth, not outsiders who have no concerns or interest in the area.
More and more houses are being built, but the infrastructure cannot cope. More than 2,000 cars are being added to our already conjested roads.
The majoriy of these houses are going to people outside Monmouth instead of local people who have waited years for a home in Monmouth.
And, to top it all, there are further increases in council tax.
The vote and the choice is yours, use it.
RW Bradley
(Monmouth)
