Conservative Party leader WilliamHague brought his party's election campaign to the streets of Monmouth this week.

Mr Hague, accompanied by his wife Ffion, brought the centre of the town to a standstill for about half an hour when he shouted out his "save the pound" message.

He was in the town to support former MP., Roger Evans, who is seeking to regain the seat, which is high on his party's hit list of must-win seats.

Following Mr Hague, who arrived in the party campaign coach, were two coach loads of media representatives.

The visit figured prominently in the late afternoon and evening national news broadcasts, with an upbeat Mr Hague promising a Tory win in both Monmouth and Britain.
