LAST Friday (19th May) saw one of the world’s most famous steam locomotives, number 60103 ‘Flying Scotsman’ pass through Chepstow train station.

The engine, famous for being the first train to officially record 100mph, was travelling from Newport to Bristol Parkway via Gloucester.

It was photographed by Jamie Squibbs as it crossed the River Wye at Chepstow after coming from Bishton and Llanwern.

Earlier in the day, the Scotsman had travelled from Shrewsbury to Cardiff Central via the marches. The outward leg from Cardiff Central was diesel hauled.

Both platforms at Chepstow train station were full of Scotsman fans as the train passed through at 7.30pm.
