I have lived happily for many years on the Wonastow Road in the knowledge that during heavy rain the road floods off to our right towards Dingestow at Jingle Street, leaving the optional exit in the opposite direction towards Monmouth.
Now the developers of the new estate at Kings Wood Gate have installed a new junction on the Wonastow Road in a dip causing local residents to be marooned every time we get heavy rain. Highways say it is the developers responsibility as the junction has not yet been adopted by them. The developers Barrett Wilson homes just don’t reply to any emails or calls on the subject.
Schedule 3 of the sustainable drainage act compels developers to comply with regulations which prevent flooding issues such as this. I have witnessed many flooding issues on the estate especially in the gardens where the residents get no redress from the developers, so a road junction that does not affect the estates exit path is obviously low down on the list of priorities.
Where are the regulatory authorities who should be policing this and to whom we are paying our council taxes?
