A NEW BBC show will be filming in Monmouthshire in a bid to raise funds for a good cause.

Street Auction, which is presented by Flog It! presenter Paul Martin, will film in Meadway, Rogiet from 1.30pm to 5pm this Saturday (28th May).

Residents, community groups and businesses have joined together to donate items to be sold in a pop up auction which will be hosted by Paul.

Alongside the auction, visitors can expect a street party atmosphere with cake stalls, bric-a-brac and craft stalls lining the street.

Funds raised from the day will go to benefit a good cause in the community of Rogiet which remains a secret and will be announced on the day.

The premise of the show is to bring a street and community together to raise funds for a good cause.

Rogiet Community Cafe has been chosen by the BBC to run a cake stall and refreshments at the event.

Unbeknown to the organisation, Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) sent a video of the cafe to the BBC, after producers of the show were seeking groups which showed good community spirit.

The show subsequently got in touch with the cafe owners and producers asked them to be actively involved in the event.

Ilona Watson, who set up the cafe last year with Fay Baxter, said: “The event will raise money for a good cause in the community.

“We’ve had a few people get in touch saying they’d like to donate cakes for the stand but we need a few more volunteers.”

Rogiet Community Cafe is pledging an afternoon tea for six where volunteers will bring cups and saucers to the lucky winner’s house and treat them.
