A Monmouth man who pursued a career in filmmaking has had two of his films accepted in an international film festival. Darren Douglas from Monmouth graduated from Cardiff school of Creative and Cultural Industries. He then developed his skills in Poland by making a series of independent documentaries and music videos. "As we now live in the digital age, more and more independent film-makers are given the tools to tell stories that they want to tell," said Darren. "Therefore, I began a company called Darkholefilms with a Cardiff-based creative director and producer called Timothy Hole. "I have been really blessed here in Poland because I have had the local support of two independent film companies." Mr Douglas has had his most recent work accepted by the Viewster Film Festival which makes their selected films available online from 11th to 25th September. 572 films have been selected, however only seven from Poland. Darren wrote, acted and directed in both films called Osmosis and Paradox. They were filmed on a micro-budget in northern Poland. "There are some very well-known Polish actors involved in these projects such as Matra Klubowicz and Radek Hebal," said Darren. "We have been very lucky to have such exceptional talent involved which also highlights why the films have done so well. However, I have had the support of the community and a large number of talented individuals." The public can participate by voting on their favourite entries and help select the finalists for the jury. They can do this by going to http://www.festival.viewster.com">www.festival.viewster.com where they can watch all of the films. The jury will then decide who will receive part of the $100 award. The winners will be announced on 5th October at the Raindance Film Festival in London.
