SIR,

It is a sad day when the local pubs and taverns and

their environs cease.

The Griffin is a case in point and now there is the

possibility of The Bush in Penallt becoming residential.

This must not happen! Therefore, we should oppose this

as it is a vital organ and key to the village itself.

Wouldn't it be a terrible if we all could look forward

to a pint inside the hideous premises of a multi-national,

as the country suffers through this recession.

We must do all we can to protect our local taverns,

which are unique to our identity, culture and history.

So, let us support the people of Penallt, oppose

these plans and help save The Bush as the pub is part of

the village and town life.
