Leading figures from all the political parties in the area have joined the fight to prevent the closure of the Forensic Science Laboratory at Chepstow.
Monmouth MP., David Davies, revealed that the Home Affairs Committee is to hold an emergency one-off inquiry into proposals to restructure the Forensic Science Service.
If given the go ahead, the radical plans could see the FSS laboratory in Chepstow, which is known throughout the world, forced to close down with the loss of around 200 specialist jobs. It follows the introduction of competitive tendering for forensic services.
